Basic Life Support, AED & Specialised Resuscitation Equipment training is carried out by one of DDs qualified instructors within your own practice environment.
Training Aim
This course equips the GDC registrant with the required skills to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation with integrated AED and specialised resuscitation equipment in accordance to Resuscitation Council BLS and QCPR 2013/17 standards
Training Outcomes
- Aware of the Primary Dental Care guidance issued by the UK Resuscitation Council / General Dental Council November 2013/2017 Update
- Understands the importance of defibrillation
- Able to identify the common causes of cardiac arrest
- Recognises the signs of cardiac arrest.
- Understand the basic use of oxygen equipment during CPR
- Understand the aetiology of cardiac arrest
- Improved knowledge of basic cardiac electrophysiology.
- Able to define a shockable and none-shockable rhythm.
- Understands defibrillator operation and the different types.
- Review defibrillator daily maintenance checks and safety procedures.
- Able to review correct Pad placement (adult and child).
- Competency in performing Basic Life Support (Adult & Paediatric) RCUK BLS 2015
- Understands how to place a patient in the recovery position
- Able to perform BLS with AED integration
Learning Content
This training session is intended to equip the GDC registrant with all the required information and skills required to meet the standards of the Resuscitation Council UK Primary Dental Care Standards 2013/2017 and Basic Life support guidelines 2015 Adult and Child. Along with AED integration and the usage of more specialised resuscitation equipment.
